Simplicity

As I came to God today He met me with simplicity. This seems to be what He’s teaching me lately.   I found myself reading in Ecclesiastes and enjoying it so much.   I can relate to the author’s thoughts of life feeling meaningless at times.

Lately the Lord seems to be taking me on a journey of simplicity.  It’s not about what the world thinks.  It’s about living for an audience of one.  It’s about the posture of my heart.  It’s about Him. It’s not about all the things we strive to do.  Those are all good things but He is more concerned with the posture of our heart first.  If the posture of our heart towards Him is right we will naturally be able to flow into the things He has for us to do.  We must make sure that whatever we “do” doesn’t keep us so busy that we can’t just “be”.  We have to regularly seek Him and be with Him.  It’s the most important thing.

A posture of total trust in God frees you to SIMPLY enjoy your life as you actually EXPERIENCE it, not as you think it ought to be for even our expectations of what life ought to be are meaningless.

So take a walk, see a sunset, eat a good meal, enjoy friends and family.  Enjoy the simple things.  Be with our father.  Help someone in need.  Experience and enjoy your life. This is what it’s about.

Also these passages  really spoke to me.  The “less is more concept”. It confirms the “it’s ok to say no” concept.   We as women tend to say yes to it all and then feel overwhelmed. We have to choose what to say yes to.

“And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.   (to me this part shows us how often we try to be like others and not just ourselves). Fools fold their hands and ruin themselves.

Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.”

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4:4-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I love where it says better to just have one handful with peace than two handfuls with work that is like chasing after the wind.    In other words don’t try to hold too much in your hands.  Better to have one handful with peace than two handfuls with an agenda of work alone.  It is like chasing after the wind.

So today I came to God with my burdens.  I came to God tired.  He met me with grace and understanding in His word through the book of Ecclesiastes.  What is he trying to say to you today?   Get still and listen and open His word.  He can take your heavy burden.
